Adhering to the school-running characteristics of “regional, application-oriented and international”, Hebei University of Science and Technology (HEBUST) is a key multi-discipline university located in Hebei Province, and, with strong support of the Hebei provincial government, is a national first-class university, has been included in the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and was awarded with the right to confer doctoral degrees in 2021.Campus covering an area of 2760 acres.

HEBUST has a total enrollment of more than 27,000 full-time undergraduates, postgraduates and foreign students, and more than 2,400 staff members. Currently, HEBUST has 21 teaching colleges (departments) with a total of 80 undergraduate majors, as well as one first-class discipline doctoral degree awarding unit, 28 first-class discipline master's degree awarding units and 16 master's professional degree awarding unit. Disciplines cover nine categories namely, engineering, sciences, arts, economics, management, law, medicine, education and fine art. It highly meets the necessity of the industrial transformation & upgrading and the development of strategic emerging industries in Hebei Province. HEBUST has implemented in-depth international cooperation strategy. So far, it has carried out exchanges and cooperation with 109 universities and research institutions in 24 countries. It actively expands its international scientific research cooperation platforms, namely by cooperating with world cutting-edge research institutions and famous scientists in scientific research. HEBUST actively attracts international students and offers 15 undergraduate and postgraduate majors taught in English, accumulatively enrolling 500 international students from more than 40 countries. In 2023, it was approved as the "Gold Partner Institution of Chinese Union Digital Education" and begins to recruit Chinese teacher scholarship students.
