The First Chinese Opera Competition for Foreign Teachers and Students in Hebei Held Successfully in HEBUST

The first Chinese Opera Competition for foreign teachers and students in Hebei kicked off in our school on November 24th. More than 120 foreign teachers and students from 13 schools and more than 20 countries participated in the competition. Wang Tingshan, deputy director of the Education Department of Hebei, Wang Yuding and Zhao Jiang, leaders of our school, Peng Huiheng, winner of the Chinese Drama Plum Performance Award, the performance artist of Hebei clapping opera (Hebei local opera), Liu Zhongwu, former executive vice president and secretary general of the Hebei Drama Association, the famous drama critic, and many other leaders and guests participated and enjoyed the show on the evening of 25th.
Hosted by the Hebei Provincial Department of Education and organized by Hebei University of Science and Technology, there were many awards went to different shows. There were one Grand Prize went to Getting loved in an Opera Theatre organized by our school, which enjoyed Best Acting Award-an individual award as well; two First Prizes went to Sending New Years Greetings by Hebei North University and Applause for China by Hebei College of Industry and Technology, three Second Prizes, five Third Prizes, five Excellent Prizes and five individual prizes totally.
Being the first foreign teacher-student opera competition held by the Hebei Provincial Department of Education, the competition aimed to promote and popularize Chinese opera and traditional culture, spread the art of Chinese opera, promote the passion of foreign teachers and students for learning Chinese and Chinese culture. The contestants showed their talents and performed different kinds of operas such as Peking Opera, Hebei clapping opera (Hebei local opera), Ping Opera(local opera of north and northeast China), Er-ren-tai(a popular Mongolia song-and-dance duet) and Huangmei Opera, which created another cultural brand for the internationalization of education in our province.
