Recently, Stanford University in the United States, in collaboration with Elsevier's database, released the 2024 list of the World's Top 2% Scientists. The 3 professors Li Fatang, Li Zheng, and Chen Aibing from HEBUST were selected for the Career-long Impact  list. Additionally, 10 Professors, including Li Zheng, Li Fatang, Chen Aibing, Wang Liwei, Sun Hexu, Wang Bo, Li Zhaojin, Sun Guohua, Xu Xiaoyang, and Fan Zhenkai were included in the Single-year Impact  list. Professor Hua Changchun was also listed under Yanshan University for both rankings.

The World's Top 2% Scientists list is based on a systematic analysis of citation data from Elsevier's Scopus database. It utilizes six key metricsfor scoring, including total citations (with a distinction between self-citations and others, and data on self-citations), Hirsch H-index, co-authorship adjusted Schreiber Hm-index, and authorship positions such as single, first, or last authorship. The list is comprehensively analyzed and published by Professor John P.A. Ioannidis's team at Stanford University in collaboration with Mendeley Data, an Elsevier company. It is divided into two main rankings: the  Career-long Impact  list and the Single-year Impact  list. The list identifies the top 2% of scientists from nearly 7 million global scientists across 22 fields and 176 sub-fields. It serves as a measure of long-term scientific performance, providing a more objective and authentic reflection of a scientist's influence. Being included in the World's Top 2% Scientists list signifies that the scholar has a significant global impact within his field of research and has made substantial contributions.

This published version is based on the Scopus database as of August 1, 2024, with updates through the end of the 2023 citation year. The selection of 11 professors from HEBUST signifies a further enhancement of our international academic competitiveness and influence. It is a reflection of the successful implementation of our talent-strengthening strategy and the achievements of talent teamdevelopment.
