On March 25, Elsevier officially released the 2024 list of “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers.” Professor Hua Changchun from our university was once again named to the list in the field of “Control Science and Engineering,” marking his 11th inclusion since 2014.

Professor Hua has long been engaged in research on artificial intelligence, robotics, engineering mechanical systems, as well as modeling, control, and optimization of complex industrial processes. He has published three English monographs, one Chinese monograph, and over 300 SCI-indexed papers, which have been cited more than twelve thousand times by peers. His research achievements have earned him one National Natural Science Second Prize, six provincial or ministerial-level first prizes, and one society-level first prize.

The “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” list is one of the key benchmarks for the measurement of institutional academic influence. It uses Elsevier’s citation and indexing database, Scopus, as its data source, leveraging scholar profiles and multiple indicators to systematically showcase the research contributions and innovative value of Chinese scholars across various disciplines. This year’s list features 6,388 scholars from 547 universities, enterprises, and research institutions, covering 83 first-level disciplines across 10 academic fields designated by the Ministry of Education.

Professor Qiu Jiqing from the School of Science was consecutively named to the ‘Computer Science’ list from 2014 to 2019. Associate Professor Wang Qizhi from the School of Civil Engineering was also included in the list in the field of “Civil Engineering” in 2020.
