The Convening of 2024 Teachers' Day Celebration in HEBUST
On the afternoon of September 10th, HEBUST held a celebration for Teacher’s Day in 2024, the 40th Teachers' Day. School leaders, including Li Tiejun, Jiang Kun, Li Fatang, and Lin Xuefeng attended, and Vice President of HEBUST Wang Litao presided over the meeting.
On behalf of HEBUST,President Li Tiejunextended festival greetings to all the faculty and staff who have been working hard on the front line, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the honoraryretired teachers, and extended a sincere welcome to the newfaculty.Li pointed out that the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee made a systematic deployment on the integrated reform of the education, science and technology, as well as talent systemsand mechanisms, which guides the direction of strengthening both education and teachers in the new era. All teachers should closely focus on the fundamental task of moral education and cultivation of people, pass on the faith, and be good guides for students’ growth and success. They should grasp the pulse of artificial intelligence development, aim at the interdisciplinary development of disciplines, and strive to enhance capabilities in scientific and technological innovation, striving to be climbers on the path of scientific research. And they should focus on the goals and tasks in the reform and development, taking the initiative and their responsibilities to become contributors to promoting the high-quality development of HEBUST. Li Tiejun emphasized that teachers are the foundation of education and the source of its prosperity, and they are also the backbone of the school’s endeavors and advancement. HEBUST will continue to strengthen the strategic position of talent leading development, continuously improve the support system for the professional development and management services of teachers, and motivate all teachers to take on the glorious mission of educating students for the Party and cultivating talents for the country with more enthusiasm, making new and greater contributions to building a leading country in education.
Leaders of HEBUST awarded prizes to collectives and individuals who have achieved outstanding results in the work of teaching and educating, including the Advanced Collectives of National Education System, National Model Teachers, National Demonstration Labor Models and Innovative Studios in Education, Science, Culture, and Health System, Hebei Province’s Outstanding Teachers, and Hebei Province’s Most Beautiful Teacher.
Li Tiejun presented retirement certificates to the representatives of honoraryretired teachers, and students presented flowers and festival wishes to the teachers.
During the new faculty oath ceremony, Professor Wang Huixia, a “Hebei Province’s Most Beautiful Teacher” awardee from the School of Materials led the new faculty in taking the oath.
At the celebration ceremony, five vivid, warm, and touching “Good Stories of HEBUST” from teachers and students on campus deeply moved every listener present. These characters include Luo Qingzhi, a teacher from the School of Science who has been teaching for 28 years and adhering to her original aspiration of educating students; Hu Xuemin, a teacher from the School of Textiles and Apparel who is full of educational enthusiasm and has volunteered to work in Xinjiang twice; “Semi-monthly Talk of Hot Topics”, the ideological and political course team from the School of Marxism, which has insisted on keeping pace with the times while maintaining traditions for over 30 years; the teaching team of “Metal Material Engineering”, who has been striving for 52 years and adheres to the mission of self-reliance in science and technology; and the librarians who have devoted themselves to serving education and providing document resources and services to teachers and students. These stories may seem ordinary, but within their ordinariness lies a tremendous power, condensing the unswerving spirit of people in HEBUST. The torch of education has been passed down from generation to generation.
Wang Litao pointed out that promoting the spirit of educators is a call of the times and a greater mission to undertake. All faculty should take the teachers commended as role models, to strengthen their ideals and beliefs, cultivate their moral sentiments, enhance their educational abilities, and deeply root their love for students. And they should influence and drive students in their learningand conducts with noble teacher ethics and exemplary behaviors, striving to become “great teachers” who set high moral values and cultivate students, and make new and greater contributions to the faster and better development of HEBUST’s educational cause.
More than 300 individuals, including all department leaders, teacher and student representatives attended the celebration ceremony.
