Visit of Professor Iven Mareels, Vice-Chancellor of the Federation University Australia, to HEBUST
On September 18th, Professor Iven Mareels, Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of the School of Innovation, Science and Sustainability at the Federation University Australia, along with Dr. Lu Guojun, Vice Dean of the Global Professional College and FedUni Information Engineering Institute, and Gloria Li, Director of International Cooperation Department, visited HEBUST. The meeting was attended by Zhu Ligang, Secretary of the Party Committee of HEBUST, who welcomed the guests; Li Tiejun, the President of HEBUST, who delivered a speech; and Li Fatang, the Vice President of HEBUST.
Zhu Ligang expressed gratitude for the strong support from the Federation University Australia for the cooperation between the two universities. He hoped that both sides could deepen their collaboration in talent cultivation, academic exchanges, and international cooperation, building upon the foundations of their joint education programs.
Li Tiejun welcomed the visiting delegation and thanked both parties for their hard work in promoting collaborative education. He noted that through the joint efforts of the two universities, the collaborative program has yielded good results. He expressed hope that both sides could further tap into their resources, broaden their channels, and enhance the quality of the education programs and institutions, working together to create new opportunities for cooperation and exchange.
Iven Mareels remarked that the fruitful outcomes achieved in collaborative program operations, student training, and international scientific research cooperation are results of the joint efforts of both universities. He expressed hope that the two institutions would continue to engage in friendly cooperation across various fields and looked forward to having more students and faculty from HEBUST visit the Federation University Australia for exchange and study.
The meeting was chaired by Yan Cuiying, Director of the International Cooperation Office and Dean of the School of International Education. Relevant leaders from theOffice of International Cooperation, FedUni Information Engineering Institute, School of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, and School of Information also participated in the discussions.
Following the meeting, a joint management committee meeting and a joint academic committee meeting of the Federation University Australia were held, along with a meeting of the Joint Management Committee for the Sino-Australian Environmental Engineering Program. The visiting delegation also attended a welcome meeting for new students in the collaborative program between the FedUni Information Engineering Institute and the School of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, as well as held an academic lecture.
