Recently, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) released the list of National Intellectual Property Information Public Service Centers for 2024. A total of 36 institutions nationwide were selected, and HEBUST is the only institution in Hebei Province to be recognized as a national-level Intellectual Property Information Public Service Center this year.

Since 2008, HEBUST has been providing intellectual property information services, and it was approved as a Hebei Province Intellectual Property Information Public Service Center in 2023. HEBUST has been actively exploring the establishment of a discipline service system that integrates with research teams, spans the research lifecycle, and supports research management decisions. By focusing on full-chain intellectual property operations, it is pioneering new models of public service and transformation of intellectual property applications, which lays a solid foundation for high-quality and distinctive intellectual property information services to support scientific research and regional innovation development.

Taking this national-level approval as an opportunity, HEBUST will align with local needs and its unique advantages to build a public service network that combines general services with specialized services. This network will feature diversified service resources, standardized service processes, and a socially integrated service system. It will provide high-quality intellectual property information services to innovators and the public, promoting the open sharing and effective utilization of intellectual property information continuously. Additionally, it will contribute to the development of academic disciplines, research innovation, and the transformation of intellectual property, thereby fostering new productive forces and supporting high-quality economic and social development at both national and regional levels.

National Intellectual Property Information Public Service Centers are institutions registered and managed by CNIPA to provide intellectual property information services to innovators and the public in alignment with national and regional development strategies. To implement the strategic goals regarding public intellectual property services set forth by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, CNIPA initiated the registration of these centers in 2021, which are composed by universities, research institutions, government service agencies, industry organizations, public libraries, museums, and market-oriented service providers. They offer basic public services such as information retrieval, consulting, public training, and policy advocacy in some areas like trademarks, patents, and geographical indications. By effectively integrating and utilizing societal resources, these centers aim to extend the benefits of intellectual property public services to a broader range of innovators, entrepreneurs, and the public.
