Dear faculty, students and friends,

As the clock ticks gently, a new year unfolds quietly. On this joyous occasion of bidding farewell to the old and welcoming the new, on behalf of the university leadership, I extend my warmest New Year greetings to all faculty and staff who have worked diligently, retired colleagues who have made silent contributions, alumni at home and abroad who care deeply about their alma mater, and friends from all walks of life who have supported the university's development!

Looking back on 2025, it was a year when Hebei University of Science and Technology strode forward with determination, chasing the light and scaling new heights. It was also a year of high-quality development marked by the concerted efforts, innovative spirit and solid work of all HEBUSTers. We thoroughly studied and implemented the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and all subsequent plenary sessions of the 20th Central Committee. Focusing on the epochal questions of "What should education do for building a powerful nation? What should HEBUST do for building a powerful education system?", we addressed challenges through reform and delivered answers with innovation. We promoted the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent cultivation in a coordinated manner, successfully concluded the 14th Five-Year Plan, and laid the groundwork for the 15th Five-Year Plan, presenting an inspiring annual report with remarkable achievements.

This year, we deepened our theoretical study to strengthen our roots and forge our souls, and pooled strength under the leadership of the Party. We thoroughly studied and implemented the guiding principles of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, earnestly carried out the educational campaign on thoroughly implementing the central eight-point regulation, and supported and cooperated in the inspection work. We successfully held the 4th Party Congress, which set the direction and put forward the "1681" development strategy. We convened a conference on public opinion, ideological and cultural work to promote the main theme and gather positive energy. We further advanced the "Strengthening Foundations and Striving for Excellence" project and launched the "Taking the Lead in Tackling Key Tasks" initiative, and the effectiveness of Party building in guiding high-quality development has become increasingly prominent.

This year, we remained true to our original aspiration of fostering virtue through education and nurtured new generations with strong roots and noble spirits. We steadily promoted the rectification work following the undergraduate education and teaching assessment, and the quality of teaching continued to improve. We carried out the enrollment of integrated master's and doctoral programs for the first time and obtained the qualification for recommending outstanding undergraduate graduates for postgraduate studies without the entrance examination. We made new strides in opening-up, with one non-independent legal person cooperative education institution approved by the Provincial Department of Education. Students won more than 400 national-level awards in various academic competitions, showing brilliant youth on the competition stage. We established 14 Alumni Homes and 4 industry-specific committees, enabling in-depth integration of alumni and industry resources into talent training.

This year, we improved our disciplines, pursued scientific and technological innovation, and took on the responsibility of serving society. Agricultural Science entered the top 1% of ESI global rankings, bringing the total number of such disciplines in the university to 4. We undertook 2 national major science and technology projects and 13 sub-projects for the first time. Five university-level research institutes entered the substantive construction stage, accelerating the operation of the innovation engine. The Luquan Industrial Innovation Research Institute was inaugurated and settled in, introducing and incubating 11 companies, and building a "fast track" for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Journal of Hebei University of Science and Technology and Hebei Journal of Industrial Science and Technology were continuously selected into the Core Journals of Science and Technology.

This year, we precisely introduced and cultivated talents, gathered wisdom and strength, and enhanced the strength of the talent team. We introduced 2 national-level high-level talents and recruited 77 teachers with doctoral degrees. The number of Muxing Scholars reached 235, and 16 teachers were awarded the 2nd "Muxing Teaching Award". Twelve individuals were approved as top talents and backbone talents under the Yanzhao Golden Platform Talent Recruitment Program, one team was rated as the Huang Danian-style Teacher Team in Hebei Provincial Universities, and one college was awarded the Advanced Collective in the Hebei Provincial Education System. We created distinctive brands for teachers' ethics education, such as "Mobile Ethics Lectures for Teachers" and "Muxing Youth Talks".

This year, we wholeheartedly prioritized people's well-being and provided warm service guarantees. The Medicinal Molecular Chemistry Laboratory Building was put into use, and infrastructure projects with a total area of over 120,000 square meters, including the National Defense Key Discipline Laboratory Building, the Teacher-Student Activity Center, and student dormitory buildings, were advanced at an accelerated pace. We built a 5G_CNet campus comprehensive test network and a cloud computing power test platform in the dormitory area, and completed ten livelihood projects such as the renovation of dormitory toilets. We passed the acceptance of the national healthy school construction, safeguarding the physical and mental health of teachers and students.

As the bell rings to usher in the new year, everything takes on a new look. The year 2026 marks the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan and the 70th anniversary of the founding of our university. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, we will forge ahead with unremitting efforts, take the lead in the new journey, bravely shoulder the mission of building a powerful education system in the new era, write a new chapter in building a distinctive first-class university in China in the pursuit of excellence, and make new contributions to writing the Hebei chapter of Chinese-style modernization construction. Let us embrace the joy and hope, join hands to welcome 2026, and gather friends from all over the world at HEBUST to watch the sparkling waves of Muxing Lake dyed by the morning light and listen to the inspiring school song echoing on campus!
