As a key technology in manufacturing, welding is also known as "industrial sewing machine", as small as an integrated circuit chip or as large as an aircraft carrier, welding technology is inseparable. The reporter learned that the scientific research team of Hebei University of Science and Technology is committed to welding-related research work, solved the problem of welding "jamming" in manufacturing, and contributed to improving the core competitiveness of the enterprise, promoting industrial upgrading, assisting national defense and high-quality development.

Metal "Tailor" Helps Made in China

When students majoring in welding from the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Hebei University of Science and Technology are attending classes, they often hear stories about how welding plays a role in the manufacture of heavy equipment such as "nuclear submarine", "offshore drilling platform", "Shenzhou spacecraft", and "Fuxing HSR". That was Professor Wang Jun's lecture in the professional class.

Engaged in welding technology research for 33 years, Professor Wang Jun has personally experienced and witnessed the vigorous development of my country's welding industry. He and his team are committed to "production, study, research and application" integrated scientific research, carry out basic theoretical research in friction stir welding and backfill friction stir spot welding, innovate process methods, design and manufacturing, system integration, etc., and overcome metal melting. Applying thermal decoupling control, thin-wall hyperbolic structure welding deformation control, multi-variable coupling process control and other technical problems, through independent research and development, independent innovation, promote the development of the welding industry.

In the West-East Gas Pipeline Steel Welding Test conducted by the China Petroleum and Natural Gas Pipeline Science Research Institute, to ensure the safety and quality of the project, Professor Wang Jun and his team worked continuously for more than 100 days and successfully solved the problem of all-position root welding of the pipeline.

Professor Jun Wang told reporters that in response to the national call for energy conservation, emission reduction and building a strong manufacturing country, the team systematically studied the principles of high-strength aluminum alloy welding forming principles, welding deformation control, and microstructure control based on the lightweight design of aluminum alloys. The welding problem of the lifting device of the "China Sky Eye" FAST feeder cabin was overcome, and the high-precision pointing tracking of the radio telescope receiver was realized.

For more than 20 years, Professor Wang Jun and his team have always followed the forefront of the welding industry, and developed the first domestic robot RFSSW welding system in cooperation with domestic research institutes, and completed the application research of friction stir welding in general aircraft for the first time and realized prototype production. . "The online inspection system for welding process based on the Internet of Things, which we have developed, has provided important technical support and reserves for the reliable welding of key components in major projects, and has been promoted and applied in more than 50 companies." Wang Jun said.

"Deep Cultivation" Large-line Energy Welding Service Strategy for Marine Power

"Our country is rich in marine resources. The development of resources and even national security are inseparable from marine engineering steel. Welding, as one of the important processes, determines the efficiency and safety of marine steel." Talking about the importance of welding research Significance, said Professor Zhu Liguang, President of Hebei University of Science and Technology.

With the rapid development of my country's shipbuilding industry, in order to improve shipbuilding productivity, shipyards have widely adopted large heat input welding. However, as the heat input increases, the low-temperature impact toughness of the welding heat-affected zone decreases sharply, which seriously threatens the safe use of ships.

In order to solve this "stuck neck" problem, since 2013, Professor Liguang Zhu has formed a research team with a multidisciplinary background, and built a research platform integrating smelting, continuous casting, rolling, welding and organizational performance testing. With the pilot test base, we will concentrate our efforts on researching and overcoming the difficult problems of high heat input welding steel based on the new generation of oxide metallurgy technology.

After more than 1,000 day and night repeated experiments in the laboratory, the team created a precedent for the industrial production of large heat input welded hull steel with aluminum final deoxidation, molybdenum-niobium-magnesium-titanium microalloying, and solved the heat-affected zone during large heat input welding. A recognized problem with a sharp decline in resilience.

The research results have been applied in enterprises such as Handan Iron and Steel, Tangshan Iron and Steel, Shougang, etc. The products have passed the certification of China, the United States, Germany, South Korea and other multinational classification societies and shipyard production licenses, and have been promoted and used in ships of more than 100,000 tons, which has promoted Hebei The transformation and upgrading of the product structure of the provincial iron and steel industry is of great significance for accelerating the transformation from a “big steel province” to a “strong steel province”.

"Small welds" escort "big country heavy equipment"

When everyone talked about the "Fuxing" EMU first to achieve a speed of 350 kilometers per hour, setting a new benchmark for the world's high-speed rail, Professor Wang Dianlong and Professor Liang Zhimin, dean of the School of Materials, Hebei University of Science and Technology, were very proud of their "advanced" The "Connection and Process Control" team contributed to the production of the "Fuxing" high-speed train.

"While doing basic research, the team is looking for all opportunities to participate in major national projects or equipment manufacturing." Wang Dianlong said that their self-developed arc welding process high-speed camera and telecommunication synchronization acquisition system can collect arcs or arcs at a rate of several thousand frames per second. The image of the droplet transition can also collect welding current and voltage signals at a speed of 500kHz, and then combine the images and electrical signals to accurately and quantitatively analyze and evaluate the welding process.

According to reports, this arc welding process quality analysis system has been favored by CRRC Qingdao Sifang Company. After technical negotiations, the team upgraded and integrated the system in accordance with the requirements of the company. Due to its easy operation, good imaging effect, and powerful analysis function, the system quickly gained recognition in the industry and was adopted by companies such as Tangshan Matsushita, CSSC Huangpu, and Beijing Huizhong.

While developing the arc welding process analysis system, the team learned about the thermal cracks and joint performance degradation problems in the aluminum alloy welding process of high-speed train car bodies, and immediately began to study. The CMT (Cold Metal Transfer) welding process developed by them applies the equal low heat input welding process to aluminum alloy thick plates, and proposes a variety of CMT composite processes, which not only maintains the advantages of small heat input, but also avoids the disadvantages of poor fusion Finally, the CMT welding process was successfully applied to the welding production of high-speed trains, which significantly reduced the tendency of hot cracks and improved the strength of the joints.
